FanTeam 90-Minute Men

Points, precious points. One of the aspects that was new to me playing FanTeam last year for my first time is the extra point a midfielder or striker gets for playing a full 90 minutess. Although this metric won’t define your season, it certainly helps. I quickly learnt that Bissouma should be higher up my bench and if someone is a rotation risk, even start him the odd time. Starting with a base of 3 points, before potential clean sheet and impact points, would give you a total of 4.3 points this season. Such a return is not to be scoffed at.

In this article, I will analyse who are the 90 minutes men for you*. It should not be the first thing you think about when making your selections. But like shots on target points, it is one to have in the back of your mind and it may help for them coin flip decisions while you are preparing for FanTeam's 1,000,000 season-long game.

Using the headers you can play with these tables and investigate more yourself.

* This analysis excludes promoted sides and midfielders who played less than 1,000mins and strikers that played less than 500mins

Midfielders

I find James Ward-Prowse a boring asset to own but you can’t argue against him as a set and forget option. He ticks over with set pieces and was subbed off early once in 38 games last year. While Kouyate could be the new Bissouma I am looking for, starting 35 games and playing 90mins in 33 of those fixtures.

Among the premiums, Sterling (82%) pips Salah (76%). However, we know Salah is rotation proof unlike Sterling. This is followed by Aubameyang (73%), Mane (71%) and De Bruyne (70%). While the rotation proof Bruno and Son are susceptible to an early benching (66% and 64% respectively).

Other players of note are Zaha (90%) and Soucek (89%). While Adama Traore (89%) and Grealish (83%) also fare well, but a new manager and club respectively may have a say on that this season.

Compared to the midfielders category, we see much more rotation. Watkins tops the chart but with the arrival of Ings and Bailey, we could see Watkins getting pulled on a more frequent basis. Kane, if he stays at Spurs, will then be the most reliable 90mins striker, with Calvert-Lewin, Jimenez and Wilson also doing well. With one of two of Jimenez’s subbings coming as a result of his horror injury. Like Watkins, I see Daka’s arrival and the presence of Iheanacho and Barnes resulting in an ageing Vardy subbed off more frequently.

On the wrong end of the table Ings only finished a full 90mins in one of every two games, so perhaps it will be he who is subbed early and Watkins getting the limelight up front – only time will tell. Injury-prone Antonio is also used to an early sub,  as is Werner. Although, I found it surprising that Bamford and Wood only completed 90mins in two of every three games.
