La Liga Land. Gameweek 15 Preview

Hola, everyone! A major battle between Atletico and Barca comes last weekend in La Liga, but the other 9 games have plenty to offer as well. Let's get to the analysis of FanTeam and Bethard tournaments with  solid guarantees on offer.

Atletico Barcelona Barcelona win 38% 2.5

Benzema (14.0) – Rodrygo (8.9) – Ramos (10.8). 33,7% of the budget

After a shaky start, Real Madrid picked up the pace and proceeded to destroy opponents' defensive lines one by one. In the last 6 games, including a goalless slip against Betis, Los Galacticos scored 20 goals.

Karim Benzema has been the main man of La Liga for the last 2 seasons, after Leo Messi, of course. The French striker scored 8 out of those 20 in the last 6 games.

After the official announcement that Eden Hazard had suffered an injury and would miss at least a few games for Real, there are not many players left  Zidane can use on the wings. Rodrygo, Bale, and Isco are the only strike force left at his disposal. I prefer to use the former as he was rested in the Champions League. Bale hasn't started that game either, but it is tough to predict whether the Welshman is capable of performing at the top level after being involved in all the scandals and beeing booed by Madrid fans.

Let's not forget about defensive picks like Sergio Ramos, since this element of Real's game has also improved recently. 5 clean sheets in the last 7 games look impressive.

Oyarzabal (11.8)  Willian Jose (11.3). 23.1% of the budget

Real Sociedad will play their game against Eibar right after Madrid's encounter. I predict this game to be one of the most offensively productive in the slate.

The Basques have been on a run of bad luck in the last couple of weeks. They were not able to beat Leganes and Levante in home games. Despite that, they sit in sixth place in La Liga. Imagine where they could be if they hadn't lost all these points? Eibar seems to be the right opponent to get back on track. 3 losses in 5 last games and 10 goals conceded.

The pick of Oyarzabal goes without saying with only Messi earning more assists than him. Willian Jose is the man converting these passes from the starlet winger into goals. To my mind, 6 times in 14 games is quite a good conversion rate, so the Brazilian forward is definitely worth the money.

Chimy Avila (6.6)  R.Torres (6.8). 15.4% of the budget

Osasuna looks a decent contrarian pick this weekend. They are visiting Espanyol, who were playing in Europa League late on Thursday in Hungary, losing, to make things worse.

You know that Espanyol is by far the worst home team in La Liga to date. They earned their only point in 7 games just a week ago against Getafe.Osasuna is an average team in terms of away ties this season. 7 points in 7 games with the only 2 losses coming against Granada and Real Madrid.

I advise you to pay attention to Chimy Avila. He continues to play as a forward while being listed as a midfielder. Veteran Roberto Torres is a nice addition to compose a cheap but promising offensive stack.

Karim Benzema

With Leo playing at Wanda this Sunday, Karim is the only secure option to play as a captain. 8 goals in the last 6 games. What could you expect more from a forward nowadays?

Iago Aspas

Iago Aspas scored a rather unexpected brace against Villarreal a week ago and now has a favorable fixture against Valladolid. A risky one indeed, but this forward proved not once that he is capable of scoring in consecutive matches. He sits in 4th position in the league in xG but scored only 4 goals so far. It is time to turn big chances into goals!

  • Youssef En-Nesyri (Leganes, 5.8) — is a definite starter for his team as he scored 3 goals in last 3 games, 2 of them under the new coach Aguirre.

  • Joaquin (Betis, 5.9) — ridiculously low priced for a person sitting in the 6th in La Liga in xA (0.41 xA/90).

  • Borja Mayoral (Levante, 6.0) — tops the team rankings in xG while being 16th overall. A tough game against Getafe, but offensive stats of the team are promising.
