NHL Spotlight Stacks: Thursday 14.03

Khan here again with the best trio of offensive stacks for the upcoming NHL slate on FanTeam daily fantasy platform.

PITTSBURGH-1: Crosby (15.7) - Guentzel (12.7) – McCann (10.6)

The top line of the Pittsburg Penguins paid off well last time and there is no reason not to make the case for this trio again against a struggling Buffalo Sabres team that has lost 7 of their last 8 NHL games giving up 31 goals in the process. Since being put in a line together, Sidney Crosby, Jake Guentzel and Jared McCann combined for enormous 15 goals and 13 assists in just 6 games. This line should exploit a leaky Buffalo Sabres’ defense, which has the worst 34.9 SA/60* in the league over the last month.

TAMPA BAY-1: Kucherov (16.6) – Point (15.7) – Johnson (9.9)

The Tampa Bay's top-line comprised of Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point and Tyler Johnson has an elite upside almost every single night, but tonight’s matchup is particularly favorable.  The Lightning are going to face the Detroit Red Wings, that have now lost 11 of their last 12 NHL games, allowing 4.1 goals on average.  Additionally, the Lightning offensive potential gets a boost by the Red Wings’ abysmal 77.8% penalty kill rate over the last month. The NHL’s leading scorer Nikita Kucherov and his partner Brayden Point, who is 12th on league’s scoring chart, come at a high price tag but not paying up for this line might prove costly.

MINNESOTA-1: Parise (11.1) – Staal (10.4) – Fiala (8.8)

If you are looking for a cheap line stack in order to get the highest value from defensemen like Burns and Josi, look no further. Since Granlund is not on the team roster anymore, the Wild have decided to put together two most productive players of the team - Zach Parise (24 goals and 31 assists) and Eric Staal (19 goals and 28 assists). Despite the sample size being a tad short, Parise and Staal have great underlying stats when playing together this season: 36 SF/60**, 32.6 SCF/60***, 18.6 HDCF/60****. Kevin Fiala is a good supplement here, as he correlates with Parise and Staal in PP and has 2 goals and 16 SoG in his 7 games for the Wild. The matchup against the Dallas Stars is winnable for Minnesota, given that the Stars sit in the bottom-5 of the league in terms of SA/60 (34.1) and in the bottom-7 in terms of CF%***** (46.8) over the last month.

* SA/60 – Shots against per 60 minutes

** SF/60 – Shots for per 60 minutes

*** SCF/60 – Scoring chances for per 60 minutes

**** HDCF/60 – High danger chances for per 60 minutes

***** CF% - Corsi for %. Calculated by taking shot attempts for, and dividing it by shot attempts for and against.
