The English Premier League Official App

The official English Premier League App is designed to make sure you have the EPL world at your fingertips. All you need to do is bust your smartphone out of the pocket. For those of you who can’t imagine life without a phone, EPL’s official app is a lifesaver. It allows you to stay fully informed on the latest goings of the English Premier League, manage your fantasy team on the go and provides you with many other cool features that we will discuss below.

Where to Get It

FPL’s official app is available to download from Appstore for iOS users, and PlayMarket for those using Android devices. It is absolutely free to use and is updated regularly throughout the season. Push notifications can be enabled and customized once the app is installed. It takes up around 200 Mb on your phone’s hard drive.

FPL Official App Menu Tabs and Latest News

Once you’ve successfully installed and launched the app, you will see 5 icons at the bottom of the screen:

  • Latest
  • PL
  • Fantasy
  • Stats
  • More

Now we will talk about each of these tabs and what info they contain.

Latest News, Articles & Videos

A selection of short videos or articles will be displayed at the very top followed by the Fixtures list once you click the tab.

League table is the next thing you will see once you scroll further. Only the top-5 teams are visible here, but clicking Full Table will take you to the Tables screen where tables for any season of the Premier League can be selected to display. Tables are sortable by home/away, games won/lost etc. Premier League 2 Division 1 and Under-18’s tables are also available.

At the very bottom of the Latest tab you will find the latest news and videos, including episodes of the FPL official show where the conversation revolves around the English Premier League's official fantasy game.

Premier League Tab

Everything you might need to know about the current and previous Premier League seasons is contained here.

First and foremost, the fixtures, results and tables tabs are at the very top. By clicking any of these you will be taken to a separate tab with loads of additional info. Results of the FA Cup, Champions and UEFA Leagues are accessible, for example. Clicking any result of a Premier League match will display complete match stats, lineups and any related news.

Broadcast Schedules will display when and where you may watch Premier League games live. All time shown will be your local time. By clicking Tickets and Match Highlights tabs you will be prompted on how to get to watch your favorite team at the stadium or on the screen.

Clubs, Players and Managers tabs hide a plethora of information that you may sink multiple hours studying. You may find links to clubs’s official social media accounts, club kits, latest videos, detailed squad and player information as well as club stats here.

General Premier League and Club News tabs are found towards the bottom along with the Premier League History tab containing videos and records of the days passed.

Last but not least is the Referee tab where you can familiarize yourself with match officials and EPL refereeing in general.

You are greeted with your fantasy team’s point tally for the latest Gameweek at the top of the screen. The average and the highest scores are also displayed. Clicking Points will take you to the Squad screen where you may transfer players in and out, familiarize yourself with upcoming fixtures and scores of the players from your fantasy team. You may also toggle between Gameweeks to see how you have been progressing through the current season.

You may manage your Draft FPL team from the same tab as well as read the news on the official Twitter of the English Premier League. The option to join more leagues is also accessible via this tab just under your traditional Videos, Fixture&Results tabs that we have already talked about.

The Statistics tab allows you to display players’ price for the official FPL game, the number of points they had accumulated up to this point of the season, players’ ownership % and some other fantasy-relevant stats.

FPL Help&Rules tab is found towards the bottom of the screen in case you need a reminder on some aspects of the fantasy game.

Leagues that your fantasy team is a part of will be displayed at the very bottom along with your mini-league and global rank. The green arrows next to your position signify that your rank has improved compared to the last Gameweek, the red means the opposite.

Your fantasy team Overview screen is the last thing displayed on this page. Here you can find the info on your squad value, transfers made and chip used.

Stats & Leaders

League’s Goal and Assist leaders’ portraits greet you once you open the Stats tab. The logos of the clubs with most goals scored and most clean sheets kept are also displayed here. Clicking any of these will open up a more detailed account with lists of players and clubs depending on the category selected. Clicking any player or club from the list will then take you to a personal page of the given player/club.

Season Stats tab will display more detailed info on the current and previous seasons such as most minutes played, most tackles, shots or touches etc. It is a potential time-killer for anyone remotely interested in statistics. Looking at the 2019/20 season you might find out that Mo Salah led the league in shots (132) and Aaron Wan-Bissaka in tackles (129), for example.

All-time stats and Records are available via clicking the corresponding tabs.

Player Comparison is an interesting tool allowing you to select and compare any 2 players of the EPL. You may also compare a single player’s stats from different seasons.

All players are listed in alphabetical order with a search box available to make looking for the player you want to compare easier. The official picture of every footballer is there as well if you struggle to put a face to the name of certain players.

You are not limited to general stats such as appearances, goals, assists and cards. Chances created, crosses, interceptions, errors and much more underlying data is displayed for every Premier League player. This tab alone may make the stats geek in you squeal with joy.

'MORE' Tab

The first option you are presented with is Signing out from your Premier League account (who would like to do that anyway?).

Right underneath it, you will find your account details and notification settings. You may enable options to be notified about new episodes of Scout previews, your favorite team news, fixture change information, etc.

Shirt and Badge scanner is a neat new feature that allows you to get hidden content in your app by scanning authentic Premier League sleeve badge and shirt logos. Allow access to your smartphone camera and photo away! There are even prizes to be won for those using this cool modern feature.

In the This is Premier League and Community sections you will find loads of content about fans, community projects and programmes. Articles, videos, interviews with professionals and members of different footballing communities are available here in case you are not only interested in match action and stats. The digital version of the This is Premier League yearly magazine is available for download as a pdf file here as well.

Information about Premier League partners, transfers, the way the league is organized can be found towards the bottom of this section.

Terms&Conditions, FAQ’s, Privacy and Cookie policy along with other legal information is what concludes the More tab of the Premier League app.
